Did you know that the name Google is actually the result of misspelling? The word
googol is the number 10 to the 100th power and was coined in 1920 by mathematician
Edward Kasner's nine-year-old nephew. Kasner used Googol to illustrate numbers that are
nearly unimaginably large and yet still finite.
When Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin were looking for the perfect name for their
search technology that would index an unimaginably large number of Web pages on the Internet they
chose the mathematic name googol but misspelled it.
