Accent modification is a systematic method for modifying a foreign accent or regional dialect in order to become better understood in conversational English.

A board certified and licensed Speech Pathologist will teach clients the appropriate speech modification techniques, as well as the basic sound and principles of American English. Through speech coaching clients learn to discriminate different speech sounds, with special emphasis placed on: pronunciation, complete word production, voice projection, intonation, and rhythm.

To achieve the greatest improvement possible, a qualified speech pathologist will instruct clients to practice speech modification techniques outside of class using accent modification training materials specifically tailored to meet each client's individual needs. These materials include a practice workbook, and cassette tapes or a CD-ROM, which is a unique, interactive aid for practicing accent modification techniques.

Upon completion of the course, our client's speech is analyzed a second time by a certified speech pathologist. The results are compared to the initial analysis so the extent of the client's improvement can be determined. Past comparisons have shown that client's who attend all the appropriate sessions and practice diligently can expect to experience at least a 50% improvement in their accent or dialect.
